Holidays in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are different.  Here, I will share with you the holiday calendar of my hometown, Hong Kong.

Since Hong Kong was the British colony for 99 years, many western holidays, especially from Britain, were included in the calendar.  Even after the Handover in 1997, these holidays are still there.

But a few of them were added after the Handover on Jul 1, 1997, such as the Buddha's Birthday on May 2 and the reunion with the PRC on Jul 1.

Comapred to the holiday calendar in the Mainland, not only some western holidays, i.e. Christmas, are not included, but also some Chinese religious ones.  It is because the communist does not encourage any religion and superstition.

The following table will show the holidays schedule in Hong Kong:

Dragon Boats used in the Tuen Ng Festival
Dragon Boats used in the Boats Competition on the Tuen Ng Festival (a.k.a. the Dragon Boat Festival)

The Lunar Calendar changes every year.  I highly recommend you to check out the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce holiday schedule.
